Elena Alexandra Interviews skateboard pro Jessy Jean Bart about what it takes to ride one’s own dragon.
Excerpts from the interview:
Elena: Being unconventional is a challenge, which is especially true of artists and of athletes. Tell me about what it was like when you were younger and you did not have structure?
Jessy: Looking back, I could say that my energy was all over the place. I did not know where to focus my energy. I was doing everything at once, saying “yes” to everything.
Elena: How did you feel when you did not have focus?
Jessy: Tired, overwhelmed. You want to keep up, but it’s really hard to keep up… It is very important to be aware of my energy
Elena: Have you learned to channel your energy?
Jessy: I’ve learned from a lot of experiences. I am a lot more calmer now. I can control my emotions better.
Elena: What comes to mind when I say “fire” ?
Jessy: High intensity, high frequency. When there is negative energy around you, you can use all this fire to your advantage, figure out the way to turn it into a positive.
