About
Our mission
Ballet & Identity, Inc. is a nonprofit arts education organization dedicated to developing healthy identity in youth through classical ballet, theatre arts, literature, music, and community education where all components are parts of one comprehensive concept focused on a child’s healthy identity development.
Our mission is to develop an arts-based identity education model, which would empower youth to connect with their innate qualities and develop healthy Identity.
We are dedicated to provide affordable, inclusive ballet & arts education that helps children feel grounded in their bodies and empowered in who they are. We use the ballet & arts as the educational medium through which children, families, and communities explore identity, empathy, imagination, resilience, and cultural understanding.
The object of education is to teach us to love what is beautiful.
–Plato, The Republic
I didn’t really connect to anything in school … I wanted to succeed, so I would work really hard and memorize things and get good grades, but I wasn’t really learning.
I wasn’t learning in a way that I needed to learn, and I feel like the arts and dance was that throughway for me and it’s allowed me to become the woman that I am because of the exposure that I’ve had, because of the tools that I’ve learned from being a part of the ballet world.

We approach this goal through innovative project Ballet & Identity, which is based on the education in the principles inherent within the structure of Vaganova system of classical dance training, a powerful tool, which allows for the development of one’s qualities by establishing a mind-body connection.
